The recent ThinkPad SL510 release refreshed both the look and performance of the superb range of ThinkPad SL Series SMB notebooks. Like other ThinkPad SL Series laptops, the Lenovo ThinkPad SL510 provides users with freshly redesigned technology that includes higher-powered versions of Intel’s Core 2 Duo processors and the newly released Windows 7.

Powerful, mid-sized, and reasonably priced as low as $499, the ThinkPad SL510 is a wonderful addition to any home or office setup and is especially suited to the Small Business or soloprenuer.
SL Series with power to spare
Available with a full line of Intel Core 2 Duo processors and at least 2GB of RAM, the ThinkPad SL510 has all of the power you’ll need, whether you’re enjoying multimedia, handling spreadsheets, or editing graphics. There’s also a choice of Intel or Nvidia graphics, which means the machine is capable – if you select the right format – of playing the latest computer games and editing data-intense animations. For most users, however, the mid-level outfitting will be more than enough to handle the average computer-user’s tasks with ease. And for holding all of the data that you need, the SL510 comes with a hard drive as large as 320GB.
Great display – ThinkPad Build Quality
As its name designates, the SL510 comes with a beautiful 15.6″ display which is very crisp and handles any lighting situation. You can also opt for an integrated webcam, which will help you stay in contact with friends and colleagues no matter where you are. For navigating, there’s the excellent ThinkPad keyboard, integrated TrackPoint with buttons, and a large TouchPad with buttons. The keyboard is superb in the true Thinkpad tradition, and the TouchPad is extremely responsive.
Adept at staying connected to the world-at-large, the Lenovo ThinkPad SL510 is equipped not only with integrated Ethernet – Gigabit Ethernet – and Wi-Fi – Intel WiFi Link 5100ABGN – but it is also available with WiMax and has an integrated mobile broadband card for access virtually anywhere on the globe.
Great for peripheral lovers, the SL510 has four USB ports for easy connection of external hard drives, USB devices, iPods/iPhones, and much more. There’s also a FireWire cable for transferring large amounts of data from one device to another. Of course, there are also the standard headphone/microphone jacks, as well as an HDMI output for connecting to an external display.
Owners of the Lenovo ThinkPad SL510 have the choice of a six-cell or nine-cell battery. Lighter, but with less life, the six-cell Lithium Ion battery is capable of nearly four hours of heavy use, while the slightly heavier nine-cell battery is certainly strong enough to last through an entire work day or a long trip.
Much like the rest of the ThinkPad line, the SL510 is solidly built with a rigid sub-frame wrapped in a solidly pressed black matte exterior shell. Simple and elegant, the ThinkPad SL510 would be lovely at home, at the office or on-the-go. Best of all, unlike Lenovo’s consumer line of laptops, the matte finish on the SL510 is smudge-proof and not prone to unsightly fingerprint marks.

ThinkPad SL510 our Verdict!
The ThinkPad SL510 is the largest of the series and is powerful enough to handle basic computing and more and it’s large enough that it won’t seem out of place on a desk or dining room table. Tailored more to performance than to style, the ThinkPad SL510 is a wonderful technology addition for small-business owners, business travelers, students, and families in need of something more than what a NetBook or small laptop can provide.

i stay in Uganda but i have my uncle staying in Arizona, can i oder for one through him?
If you wish KASAIJA, you will have to pay shipping to your Uncle and then from him to you, and of course Duty into Uganda, and you will have to be aware of warranty issues

Martinho Tamele:
There are 3 types of Thinkpads you can buy:
1 – Retail, as is model… you can’t really ADD functions to these.
2 – Online – pre-built – No options, a tad cheaper but ready to ship.
3 – Online – custom order.
Yes, there is a GPS option for the SL and other ThinkPads (not EDGE)… but this is when you order a custom model ThinkPad.
The mobile broadband, if compatible in your area – requires a SIM. You can download the manual and service manual from lenovo. Anyway – the SIM card is either in a compartment under the notebook or under the palm-rests of the computer… on some models, its in the battery compartment (best). But on the SL – if you look on the bottom – there are 3 small panels – it should be in any of those.
