The latest release of the ThinkPad X200 Tablet may not be as powerful as its cousin – the ThinkPad X200 – but what it lacks in processing power it makes up for in versatility. With a swiveling touch-screen display tablet and a tablet pen for easy navigation and incredible interactivity, the X200 Tablet is a great machine for businesspeople in search a completely interactive and mobile computer.
<– Latest ThinkPad x200 offers include Free 250Gb Hard Drive and Free 8 Cell Li-Ion Battery Upgrades!
The X200 Tablet comes standard with an Intel Core 2 Duo SL9400(1.8GHz) processor and the standard 2GB of RAM, which provide for a seamless start-up, responsiveness to basic commands and allows for the use of multiple programs simultaneously.
If you want to increase the speed, opt for the 60GB solid-state hard drive; the X200 Tablet comes standard with a 160GB disc-based hard drive. For your operating system, you can choose any Windows Vista product or you may opt for Windows XP Tablet Edition which was created for use with touch-screen computers.
The strong, metal-braced keyboard of the X200 Tablet is the same as the regular X200, but lacks the TouchPad; the red-lined buttons are still there, though. There is also a TrackPoint for mouse-like navigation. The 12.1-inch touch-screen is very responsive, crisp and maintains its high-quality picture even when brightness and contrast are raised for low-light situations. You may also opt for an LED-backlit display which is even stronger in poor lighting situations.
Superb Connectivity
Aside from the standard Gigabit Ethernet card – which gives you access to the Web when you can’t find a signal or just want the reliability of a landline – you will also find a wireless card; you may choose between the Intel Wireless WiFi Link or the Intel WiMAX/WiFi Link 5300. Both options provide you with great reception, but the WiMAX card will search a much broader signal band. There’s even a Bluetooth chip for the use of wireless peripherals.
Don’t let the size of the X200 Tablet fool you; there are still plenty of ports for you to connect to a variety of other devices, including: 3 USB ports; Ethernet input; VGA output; headphone output; microphone input; 5-in-1 multimeda card reader; ExpressCard 54mm slot; and more. If you want to use an optical drive, though, you’ll need the X200 UltraBase, which has your choice of optical drive – DVD-R/CD-R/RW or Blu-Ray – and a host of other inputs.
The standard 4-cell battery in the ThinkPad X200 Tablet is well-suited for this unit and gives you up to three-and-a-half-hours of use on a single charge with moderate use – even with the LED-backlit display. For longer single-charge use periods, opt for the 8-cell battery.
The ThinkPad X200 Tablet has a swiveling display which is firmly attached via the rotating steel hinge, so you don’t have to worry about the display coming loose anytime soon. There is also a carbon fiber roll cage beneath the hard plastic shell to ensure that even the most rigorous use is not detrimental.
ThinkPad X200 Tablet, best of class
The ThinkPad X200 Tablet is perfect for those who want to interact with the world rather than with the computer. The convertible display allows for face-to-face interaction with colleagues and clients while simultaneously providing easy note-taking and communication. The Thinkpad X200 Tablet is an outstanding notebook, exceptionally well engineered and is easily the best Tablet option out there.
Lenovo still has other manufacturers playing catch up with the Thinkpad X200 Tablet
