Are widescreen Thinkpads better? Well it seems like the market thinks so. Like many other manufacturers, Lenovo has discontinued the ThinkPad T61 14.1″, the last 4:3 laptop left in the company’s lineup aside from the ultraportable 12.1″ X-series.
We have seen a trend in recent months with more and more laptops are going widescreen, opting for a 16:9 display rather than the old standard, 4:3. In fact, vendors like Apple, Sony and HP have transitioned their entire lineup to widescreen.
The only only conventional screen Thinkpad we have left in the office is our venerable ThinkPad T30 which is just great for hacking out articles and posts.
The group of people who will really mourn the loss of a 4:3 aspect ratio screen however, are the coders amongst us. The taller the screen, the more lines of code you can see.
With the upcoming release of Lenovo’s new range of Laptops in the summer it will see the end of the ’square’ laptop screen forever!
