Lenovo IdeaPad vs ThinkPad

Lenovo IdeaPad vs ThinkPad. A lot of people compare these two brands…but what are the main differences here?
The Lenovo IdeaPad…is the consumer version of Lenovo laptops. These laptops aren’t as powerful and tend not to last as long as a ThinkPad. On the plus side…you do get to save a few bucks. But when you compare a Lenovo IdeaPad vs ThinkPad laptops, you’ll notice that the price difference really isn’t that high and you get a lot more bang for your buck with them. It’s not uncommon to get more ram, a better processor, a bigger screen and a better graphics card for just $10 or $20 more.
Which is why it’s not surprising that the Lenovo ThinkPad has slowly become the #1 consumer laptop…as well as the #1 business laptop which it stayed for almost a decade. To put this in terms you can understand…Lenovo ThinkPad brand is the Toyota of the laptop world. They make good reliable laptops, packed with features…that sell like hot cakes.
To take that metaphor further…Lenovo IdeaPad vs ThinkPad is like the Toyota vs Lexus. For the same price as a top end Toyota Camry you can get a Lexus IS. And the Lexus will still have a lot more features, and the build quality is there from the start. While the $35K Camry, is still built on the same platform as the $20K Toyota Camry…the $35K Lexus on the other hand was built with high qualities from the start. So if you could have a Lexus for the same price as a Camry…why would you get a Camry?
And best of all, Lenovo is always having sales/coupons for the ThinkPad brand…so very often, you can get a ThinkPad for less than you’d pay for an IdeaPad.
So as you can see, when you compare Lenovo IdeaPad vs ThinkPad, the ThinkPad is the clear winner both in quality and in the bang for your buck category.

During a conversation with Dilip Bhatia Executive Director, ThinkPad Product Marketing for Lenovo, we tried to squeeze confirmation out of him, but all Dilip would say at the time was that Lenovo was ‘thinking about it’.
