Now equipped with a dual-core processor and Windows 7 Home Premium, the SL410 bridges the gap between an on-the-go business machine and the sleek home-based machine.
A ThinkPad for work and play
The ThinkPad Sl420 is a perfect notebook for the ThinkPad enthusiast looking for a blend of workhorse for the office and multi-media machine for after hours relaxation.
The base Lenovo ThinkPad SL410 features an Intel T3000 1.8GHz processor and 2GB of RAM (upgradeable to 4GB). If you are looking to add a little juice to your new ThinkPad SL410, the SL410 is available with a full line of Intel’s Core 2 Duo processors, up to the Intel Core 2 Duo processor P8700 (2.53GHz, 1066MHz, (3MBL2, 25W).
Storage for media and software comes in the form of a 160GB hard drive, upgradeable to 320GB capacity. The recent release of Windows 7, which is installed on all of the new SL410 models, gives users a taste of the future, ending the days of Windows XP, which for years has been the go-to operating system of ThinkPad users.
Though the brains of the Lenovo ThinkPad SL410 may have been changed, the design retains the classic ThinkPad controls. The rigid keyboard is comfortable for typing and the rugged internal structure ensures that it will stay operational for the life of the machine.
The TouchPad is large and responsive to touch, and, of course, there’s the TrackPoint located in the center of the keyboard. Topping it all off, the 14.1-inch WXGA (1200×800) display is crisp, clear, and equipped with the Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 4500MHD or the optional nVidia GeForce 9300M, extremely detailed with great color performance.
Connectivity Options
Like the rest of the ThinkPad SL series, the SL410 is equipped with the Intel WiFi Link 5100ABGN, optional embedded WWAN, an integrated Gigabit Ethernet card, and the SL410 is Wireless Broadband ready. That means you’ll never have to go without an Internet connection again, so you can stay in touch with all of your friends, family and colleagues.
Users of the ThinkPad SL410 can choose from ThinkPad’s standard six-cell or nine-cell batteries, each of which provide plenty of power to handle most everyday tasks for hours on end. The six-cell battery provides about four hours of heavy use, while the nine-cell would most likely last the course of a trans-Atlantic flight. Either way, the SL410 is available in the format that you need most.
Whether you want to use a bunch of peripheral devices or upload and download massive amounts of data, the ThinkPad SL410 has what you need. For starters, there is an integrated DVD-R optical drive for playing and burning DVDs; there’s also an option for a BluRay player. For inputs, there are four USB ports, a FireWire input, and a headphone and microphone port. There is also an HDMI output and a Bluetooth6 card for wireless peripherals.
Like other Lenovo ThinkPads, the SL410 has the ‘classic’ smotth finish black case, stabilized by a rigid frame beneath. Sleek and attractive, the SL410 has the same understated style that ThinkPad users have come to love.
