Lenovo ThinkPad T430u Ultrabook Review, Specifications

This is the one we’ve been waiting for, the ThinkPad T430u. The first business Ultrabook from Lenovo. Lenovo has always innovated with the ThinkPad brand, and the ThinkPad T430u sets another benchmark for Lenovo.

The ThinkPad T430u is the Ultrabook version for the Lenovo’s T-series of ThinkPad laptops. It combines all the benefits of the predecessor(stylish design, light weight and fast performance) and puts it into a thin and light case…that you can carry around effortlessly.

ThinkPad T430u Specs

Unlike most companies coming out with Ultrabooks right now, this isn’t the first Ultrabook for Lenovo. The ThinkPad T430u is the business version of the U300s. Since the ThinkPad is the higher quality brand for Lenovo, it obviously comes with quite a bit more goodies. The biggest is that it comes with an NVIDIA graphics card. This would mean that the ThinkPad T430u will be the only Ultrabook on the market with a dedicated graphics card. Throw in the 14″ screen with the 1368×768 resolution, fast resume/bootup(can’t very well wait 4 minutes for your laptop to boot up while you are giving a presentation), up to 1TB of disk space, up to 8GB of RAM and the segment leading 7 hours of battery life(can actually use it throughout the day without needing to recharge it), and you end up with something unique…a full fledged laptop, in a ultra slim case.

This is actually quite rare, since every other Ultrabook on the market, is basically a crippled laptop…with those, you have to deal with an integrated graphics card(that stalls even under the lightest of loads), a tiny hard drive, and only a few hours of battery life. The ThinkBooks on the other hand are designed for business people, who actually use their laptops to their full potential. This is one of the reasons why ThinkBook is the #1 brand for business laptops and is slowly becoming the #1 consumer brand as well…as more and more consumers take advantage of much better specs for the ThinkPad line. It makes sense really, the price difference is pretty much negligible, and you get so much more laptop for your money with the ThinkPad lines…if you could buy a BMW for the same price as a Chevy…why in the world would you buy a Chevy?

ThinkPad T430u Review

Overall the ThinkPad T430u specs make it a no-brainer in the Ultrabook segment. We all crave lightness/slimness in our laptops(especially those of us, who have to lug them around all day), but we need to make sure we don’t sacrifice performance to achieve it. The ThinkPad T430u is one of the very few laptops in the segment capable of doing this. The dimensions are slim, it weighs next to nothing and you get a powerful fully functioning laptop in the Ultrabook package. It’s not out yet, but it will be out soon. The ThinkPad T430u release date is set for Q3 of 2012, if past releases are any indication, the T430u release date will most likely be in August, 2012…just in time for back to school savings.
